When people visit your website, they're not just looking at your services. They're deciding whether they trust you.
That's exactly what this project was about.
Working alongside Kirstin from Kind Design and the team at Method Building Inspections, we created a library of imagery that reflected who they are, how they work, and what clients can expect from the moment they arrive on site.
From professional headshots to authentic service imagery and architectural details, every photo was created with one goal in mind: helping potential clients feel confident before picking up the phone.

What makes good brand photography for a service business?
People don't expect trades and service businesses to look perfect.
They expect them to look trustworthy.
For Method Building Inspections, that meant creating images that felt approachable, calm and genuine while still looking polished.
The creative brief focused on:
relaxed, natural interactions
clean compositions
visible branding on uniforms and vehicle
earthy tones that reflected the brand
avoiding clutter and overly posed photos
Instead of directing every movement, we focused on creating situations that felt real. The result is a collection of images that feels authentic because it is.
How do you choose the right location for a brand photoshoot?
Location plays a bigger role than most people realise.
Originally, the shoot was planned for an Airbnb that suited the brief perfectly. Unfortunately, permission to photograph there was declined.
Rather than compromising, the team found another beautiful home through family.
It ended up being exactly what we needed.
Giving us realistic environments to photograph services like pre-purchase inspections, Healthy Homes assessments and thermal imaging.
Sometimes the best locations are real spaces that feel lived in and believable.
What photos should every service business have?
One of the biggest goals of this shoot wasn't simply creating hero images.
It was building a versatile image library that Method Building Inspections can use across their website, social media, proposals and future marketing.
Together, we captured:
professional staff headshots
relaxed team portraits
branded vehicle imagery
pre-purchase inspections
Healthy Homes assessments
thermal imaging
meth testing
architectural details
behind-the-scenes moments
Creating a variety of images means the business won't be relying on the same three photos for years to come.

Can professional photography help build trust with potential clients?
Absolutely.
When someone is inviting you into their home, they're looking for signs that you're experienced, approachable and professional.
Photography communicates all of that long before someone reads your About page.
For Method Building Inspections, we intentionally showed:
genuine interactions
attention to detail
professionalism without feeling corporate
approachable personalities
consistent branding
The goal wasn't to sell.
It was to make future clients feel comfortable.
What is it like working with a photographer on a commercial shoot?
The best shoots feel collaborative.
This project was a great example of that.
Kind Design developed a thoughtful brand direction before the shoot, and together we worked through every scene, refining compositions, adjusting details and making sure each image reflected the overall vision.
Working with local businesses around Hamilton and throughout the Waikato often feels like this. There's a shared investment in creating something that genuinely supports the business rather than simply ticking a box.
After the shoot, Kirstin from Kind Design shared this review:
"I hired Pictured by Lucie to help one of my clients in Hamilton bring their brand to life with high quality photography.
I was impressed with the level of professionalism, attention to detail, and creative ability to produce stunning shots for tradies in a challenging location that matched the brief and brand perfectly.
If you or your client are looking for beautiful brand photography, Pictured by Lucie offer clear pricing, fantastic communication, approachable direction on shoot day and amazing brand photos."
Receiving feedback like this is especially meaningful because it reflects the experience as much as the final images. Great photography is about both.
Is professional brand photography worth it for small businesses?
If your website, social media or marketing still relies on phone photos or outdated images, the answer is usually yes.
Professional photography isn't just about creating beautiful images. It's about giving your business a consistent visual identity that builds trust and reflects the quality of your work.
For Method Building Inspections, this shoot created a library of imagery they can use across multiple platforms while giving clients a genuine sense of who they'll be working with.
Because the strongest brands don't just tell people they're professional.
They show them.
